Weaving is definitely a part of different cultures all over the world. Maybe next time you could tell us about what kinds of things are weaved in your culture. I have seen so many beautiful things that have been woven with flax, woolly yarn, paper and even coloured plastic from a plastic bag! If you could start a weaving project what would you weave and what material would you use?
I would love to weave my Mum, sisters and niece an ili (fan), using wool and flax. I'd definitely try hard to master the basic patterns and techniques first though. I hope when I do give it a go the ili will turn out beautiful just like the ones and my Grandparents had so many years ago...
