For this activty we had to think that we were going to the Milford track
In New Zealand. could either on foot or on a boat or a helicopter

You are right, you could definitely see lots of Milford Sound all at once in a helicopter and if you prefer that, the view from the helicopter would be great for you. One downside to the helicopter I can think of would be not being able to touch, see and smell things up close, like you could walking the Milford Track. Would that bother you, or would you be fine with that?
If I had the choice I would take the helicopter too, I love seeing things from a birds eye view. Land looks like very bold patches of colour and the lined patterns in the earth are an amazing sight to see. It reminds me of when I was last travelling on an airplane looking out the window.
